In 2019 I met McKenzie and Alex for an adventurous pre-wedding shoot in the Wicklow mountains. The three of us along with their two moms in tow trekked from Glendalough to Lough Tay. While I never did get to photograph their destination wedding in Ireland as 2020 had other plans, it still remains one of my favourite sessions.
The Wicklow mountains are notorious for it’s beautiful purple heather but this session feels so cinematic and timeless in black and white.
The two most important things to remember for your wedding day:
1. You are marrying your love.
2. Your guests and your wedding is reflective of the energy you bring to the day.
By keeping these two things in mind, while planning and participating in your day, you’ll have the best day ever.

Pro tip number 1 - add in extra time to your wedding timeline. To your morning prep, to your ceremony, to your drinks reception, to your dinner. It won’t be wasted. An extra 3o minutes goes a long way to relieve time pressures on the big day.

Tomorrow is Valentine’s Day lovebirds. Do you know the history? From Pagan festivals to the symbol of Cupid, the Greek god of love, this holiday seems to stem from ancient Rome. According to @history
“The Catholic Church recognizes at least three different saints named Valentine or Valentinus, all of whom were martyred. One legend contends that Valentine was a priest who served during the third century in Rome. When Emperor Claudius II decided that single men made better soldiers than those with wives and families, he outlawed marriage for young men. Valentine, realizing the injustice of the decree, defied Claudius and continued to perform marriages for young lovers in secret. When Valentine’s actions were discovered, Claudius ordered that he be put to death.
According to one legend, an imprisoned Valentine actually sent the first “valentine” greeting himself after he fell in love with a young girl—possibly his jailor’s daughter—who visited him during his confinement.
Before his death, it is alleged that he wrote her a letter signed “From your Valentine,” an expression that is still in use today. Although the truth behind the Valentine legends is murky, the stories all emphasize his appeal as a sympathetic, heroic and—most importantly—romantic figure.”
